ESL Program - Academics
DS provides one-to-one supplemental instruction for students wishing to improve their English proficiency. This enrollment option suits 1st grade to college level students and can target from beginning to advanced English reading, writing, and speaking skills. Students seeking admission to a private school, college, or university may opt for this program to enhance their fluency and prepare them for success in a rigorous English language curriculum. ESL Supplemental also serves students preparing for a specific examination (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, ISEE), or students already enrolled at a local school, college, or university who require academic support.
Students who successfully complete their enrollment receive a certificate of achievement with an indicated level of proficiency. Dartmoor collaborates with area educational institutions to gain admission for qualified alumni.
Students may enroll in credit coursework to build a Dartmoor transcript for graduation at DS or another school. This is an excellent option for students who would like to live and study in the US, but desire greater flexibility than conventional private schools afford. Dartmoor's ESL Credit coursework also benefits domestic students whose academic progress is inhibited by language or learning differences in a classroom setting. Students can focus exclusively on English language studies or can expand their understanding of English and other core academic areas. Students taking credit courses at Dartmoor may participate in extracurricular activities through a local public school to experience the culture of a traditional American high school. Graduating students receive an accredited US diploma and a DS transcript. Students who enroll for individual courses or a series of courses build a DS transcript. As all US schools have differing policies, Dartmoor advises students seeking admission at another secondary school to discuss transfer credit before applying. DS is happy to facilitate this process for alumni.
